Largemouth Dominate Lake Lanier Gambler Tournament

As 120 plus boats headed out for the No Entry Fee Gambler Tournament on Lake Lanier we had heard rumors of largemouth bass heading for the beds.  As the weigh in concluded there was no doubt a few teams had cashed in on these fish.  Normally dominated by spots, this year produced two of the biggest largemouth bags we have seen over the past four years.

Tyler Cronic and Ricky Cronic took home the 1st place prize with 24.02.  Their bag also included the big fish of the tournament weighing in at 6.82.  A 22.02 bag brought in by Nick Tinsley and Steven Dockery was good enough for 2nd.  They were followed up by Jim Tortter and Barbara Trotter wtih 16.86.  Chris Peeples and Timmy Cagle had 15.60 good enough for 4th, and Chad Woodall and Dwight Woodall weighed 15.28 for the 5th place finish.

As the top boats were checked it was evident the main lures of choice were Gambler Little Otters, Flappy Daddies, and Ace's rigged on Giggy Heads and Double Collar Ball Headed Gambler Jigs.  Allthough their were a few big spots weighed the big fish seemed to be mostly largemouth.

Be sure to check in with Hammond's Fishing for a couple of new custom color Ace's and Super Studs just for the fisherman on Lanier.

Davis and Fisher win Gambler Lake Kissimmee Tournament

Over 100 teams fished the Lake Kissimmee No Entry Fee Tournament.  The team of Neil Davis and Don Fisher took home top honors with 23lbs.  Big Fish was a 10.5 lb monster weighed in by Robbie Crosnoe and Ricky Grant.    Mike Keyso and Lee Cepero weighed 19.15 for 2nd place.  Ricky Grant and Robbie Crosnoe leveraged that big fish into a 17.25 lb bag for 3rd.  Rob Wilson and Marion Mazzonetto weighed 16.8 lb's for 4th.   And Swift Spaulding and Ben Carr weighed 15.4 for 5th place.

The winning pattern was flipping crickets into thick vegetation.  2nd place fished a combination of crickets and crawdaddy's.  Big Fish and 3rd place were taken on the Ugly Otter.  Both 4th and 5th reported using Gambler 10" Ribbon Tails for their catches.

Gambler Lures contributes to top finishes in early 2011 tournaments

Gambler Lures once again demonstrated their bass-catching effectiveness in B.A.S.S. Open, FLW Tour and EverStart circuit competitions. Several anglers, both pros and co-anglers, enjoyed heavy hauls in Florida waters to start their 2011 season off right. The following are the accounts.

Brandon McMillan
Champion, FLW Tour Open, Lake Okeechobee, FL. 2/3 – 2/6. Winning weight: 106 lbs, 10 oz (FLW Record).
2nd Place, EverStart Series, Lake Okeechobee, FL. 1/6 – 1/8. Weight: 58 lbs, 1 oz.

Gambler Pro-Staffer Brandon McMillan might as well adopt "Okeechobee" as his middle name because he nearly swept two national tournaments on the same venue in less than one month. While the competition was stiff, McMillan’s approach was simple. He found and exploited a healthy population of behemoth bass that were vulnerable to a flipping presentation on the north end of the lake. Meanwhile, the majority of his fellow competitors focused on bedding fish.

McMillan recounts, "I fished the same area in both tournaments – in and around Monkey Box. The area really didn’t have much pressure. In fact, it was just me and one other guy fishing the area in the FLW Tour. I figured I was going to have a bunch of boats around me after the EverStart, but I did not."
