Largemouth Dominate Lake Lanier Gambler Tournament

As 120 plus boats headed out for the No Entry Fee Gambler Tournament on Lake Lanier we had heard rumors of largemouth bass heading for the beds.  As the weigh in concluded there was no doubt a few teams had cashed in on these fish.  Normally dominated by spots, this year produced two of the biggest largemouth bags we have seen over the past four years.

Tyler Cronic and Ricky Cronic took home the 1st place prize with 24.02.  Their bag also included the big fish of the tournament weighing in at 6.82.  A 22.02 bag brought in by Nick Tinsley and Steven Dockery was good enough for 2nd.  They were followed up by Jim Tortter and Barbara Trotter wtih 16.86.  Chris Peeples and Timmy Cagle had 15.60 good enough for 4th, and Chad Woodall and Dwight Woodall weighed 15.28 for the 5th place finish.

As the top boats were checked it was evident the main lures of choice were Gambler Little Otters, Flappy Daddies, and Ace's rigged on Giggy Heads and Double Collar Ball Headed Gambler Jigs.  Allthough their were a few big spots weighed the big fish seemed to be mostly largemouth.

Be sure to check in with Hammond's Fishing for a couple of new custom color Ace's and Super Studs just for the fisherman on Lanier.
