Florida Rig Review by Jeff Bruhl
In the "Why didn't I think of that" category comes the new Florida Rig Weight from Gambler. It is a new take on an old weight. In the past, anglers used everything from toothpicks to skirt strands to "peg" a sinker and prevent it from sliding freely on the line. The new Florida Rig Weight is easy to use, protects the line from damage, and catches fish. The design is simple yet highly effective at keeping the sinker on the nose of the bait.

Schools In for Smallmouth Bass by Paul Strege
Schooling smallmouth can be challenging, even frustrating at times to find. Tip - Flounder on the Flappn Shad
Captain Gil says definitely. Captain Gil prefers the Red and White 6" Gambler Flappn Shad rigged with a Laser Lock 1/4 oz jighead. Gil recomends methodically and slowly bumping it along the bottom, every once in a while he will let the bait lay for a few seconds. You can feel the flounder either slam dunk it hard in which case the flounder has engaged the hook itself. If there is just a peck peck Gil recomends allowing the fish to eat the bait for about 5 seconds until there is enough tension and then set the hook hard and hang on. Captain Gil focuses in water in the 8 to 15 foot range.
If you are headed towards Galveston Bay and are looking for some excellent Redfish, Flounder, and Trout fishing we recomend you look up Captain Gil at http://www.captgil.com/. Tell him Gambler sent you and enjoy the trip.
Question and Answer:
Question: I have heard about cutting the tail on the Flappn Shad. How do you do that and what is the result? Thomas, Ontario Canada.
Answer: Thomas, great question. One of the ways to enhance the action of the Flappn Shad is to to cut the tail. This makes the bait throw off more water and make more noise coming through the water.
Question: Can you tell me the proper way of using the Super Stud? I have been using it for awhile but was told I am using the wrong way. - Dominic, Fort Lauderdale FL
Answer: Thanks for the question. The great thing about the Super Stud is that there is not a wrong way to fish it. I personally use a Super Stud for both largemouth and smallmouth, and I usually fish it the same way. I rig the bait with the hook buried in the slot so that the bait is weedless. Many people fish it with the hook exposed in the slot, but the bait is upside down when being twitched. I do not think the bass care which way it is hooked as long as you fish the bait properly they will bite it. I like to cast the bait out, let it sink 2-3 seconds, and then use a twitch-pause-twitch-pause retrieve, letting the fish dictate how long the pause needs to be. The colder the water, or deeper the fish, the longer I pause the retrieve. I hope this helps - please let us know how it works.
Thanks for using Gambler Lures.
